Is the Kitten Toilet Trained?
YES
Kittens from Playfulpaws are fully toilet trained at around 6 – 8 weeks of age. We use and recommend pine pellets as litter.
However, occasionally you may expect the odd accident to occur when your kitten, or cat is settling into to their new home.Due to the stress of a new environment, new people and missing his/her litter mates. It is import ant to get on top of this so it does not become a habit. Full notes are provided on how to reduce, or prevent any accidents from occurring.
Recommended Litter
It is suggested that you use the same litter as the breeder, as you do not wish the kitten to become confused about the litter. The kitten should be introduced to their new litter tray as soon as you arrive home.
Pine Pellets
Playfulpaws and many other breeders recommend Pine Pellets as a litter.
When the kitten / cat urinates on the litter, the Pine Pellets absorb and expands, collecting the moisture. During the absorption process, a pine fragrance is released, masking the urine odour.
You will find that it is very easy to spot specific areas in the litter tray where the kitten has urinated. Any pellets that get wet will turn to sawdust, which you can sieve out the sawdust and continue to use the untouched pellets. The sawdust is thrown out and replaced with new pine pellets.

Recommended Litter Tray
If you decide to use Pine pellets, the Pusseydo litter tray is highly recommended.
Comprising of a base tray and a sieve tray, you place around 2.5 cm of pellets into the sieve tray, and when the pellets break down, the resulting sawdust falls into the base tray.
You can also shake the tray, causing wet litter to fall into the bottom tray. No need to toss out unused pellets. You only empty the base tray with the used litter.

One, or Two Kittens
If you work full time and you are not going to be there for your new kitten for long periods of time, then you may wish to purchase two kittens to keep each other company.
Ragdolls love company – both 2 and four legged. If you do not occupy your kitten, they can become bored and may start to get into mischief!
If you have other household pets, allow your new Ragdoll kitten a few days to a week to become buddies.
When can kittens be rehomed?
Your kitten will be 12 weeks of age before being re homed.
This ensures that they are well socialised and handled. Until this age, they are still learning many things that allow them to become beautiful, well adjusted, obedient cats.
Playfulpaws also ensures that the kittens receives their second vaccination and final vet check at 12 weeks of age.
Male, or Female Kitten?
It is our opinion, that gender does not play a part in being cuddlier than the other, it totally depends on the nature of the individual kitten (and the nature of the parents). Some boys are as smoochy, as the girls.
Playfulpaws pet kittens are all desexed just after 10 weeks of age, well before any hormones start to take effect.
How often do I groom my Ragdoll?
Ragdolls are perhaps the cleanest breed of cats with semi-long coat that is silky, non-matting, and bunny like.
A regular, gentle brushing with emphasis on the underarm and hindquarters is sufficient. After your kitten arrives home, some gently brushing will also help the young kitten settle in and create a bond with you.
It is also a great way to spend time with your Ragdoll. Very therapeutic and relaxing after a busy day. Ragdolls love being groomed. Stories abound of some Ragdoll’s bringing the brush for their groom.
Note that Ragdolls will shed their coat in Spring, shedding their thick Winter coat.
It is highly recommended that you comb, or brush them on a daily basis until the coat has been shed. You may also need to vacuum more leading up to this period.
There is no set period in which to groom Ragdolls, as they do not have an undercoat that mats.
How are Ragdolls with other animals?
Ragdolls are a very docile, laid back breed. They do very well in multiple cat and dog homes.
However, one should always supervise the initial interaction, until you feel comfortable knowing there will be no problems.
